Battlefield of the Mind - Week 2

It is week 2!!

In the Facebook group I will post each question separately so that we can keep the conversation on the same thread for the same question. Please feel free to post your own thoughts about anything in any of the chapters as well!! You are not limited to only answering these questions!! :)

Reading for this week:

Chapter 3
Chapter 4
Chapter 5

Discussion Questions: (To be answered in the Facebook group)

Week 2 Question 1

Read Isaiah 43:2. What does God promise us regarding difficulties that we experience? Quitting is easy. How can we overcome difficulties and not give up?

Week 2 Question 2

Read Deuteronomy 1:2,6-8. Why did it take the Israelites forty years to make an eleven-day journey? How does this problem relate to us today in our spiritual journey? When God told the Israelites, “You have dwelt long enough on this mountain,” what was He really saying? What is He saying to us today?

Week 2 Question 3

Read Deuteronomy 7:22. The process of renewing our mind takes place Little By Little. Why did God tell the Israelites He would clear out their enemies this way? What is the “beast” that will consume us if we receive freedom too quickly?

I facilitated another study a while back and I had a different woman “lead” each chapter. This link is from one of my best friends daughters who pitched in on that study and had a fantastic take on this!! Here is a link to that if you would like to read it!! It is especially good if you are struggling in your prayer/study time with Jesus!!

Week 2 Question 4

2 Corinthians 5:17 (KJV)
“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”

Many of us have had bad things happen to us, things which cause us to be negative about the future. According to this verse, how should we react to such situations?

Week 2 Question 5

Acts 17:11 (KJV)
“These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.”

According to this scripture, how can we achieve balance in our thinking?

Battlefield of the Mind - Week 1

Welcome to week one ladies!!

I am so excited that this week is finally here!! Please remember that this is designed to be at your own pace!! Just because others may start answering questions, doesn't mean you are behind!! We won't move on to anything new until next week and you have all week long to jump in on the discussion!! Don't let Satan get you frustrated from the get go!! He is not going to win!! You all are amazing and I am blessed to be reading this book and learning with you all!!

In the Facebook group I will post each question separately so that we can keep the conversation on the same thread for the same question.

I also have included a Personal Reflection Question. Anytime during the study that you see a personal reflection question, you are more than welcome to share your answer with the group, but there is no pressure to. The purpose is for you to spend time with God and find out what He wants you to gain from that question.

So, here we go!!

Reading for this week:
Part 1 Introduction
Chapter 1
Chapter 2

Discussion Questions: (To be answered in the Facebook group)

Week 1 Question 1:
Our minds are the forerunner of our actions. In other words, our actions are a direct result of our thoughts. How do we know the difference between what is our own thoughts and what is the mind of Christ?

Week 1 Question 2:
(Ephesians 6:12; John 8:44)
Jesus called Satan a liar. How does Satan attempt to defeat us? What does the book mean when it said "One of the devils strong points is patience"?

Week 1 Question 3:
What are "strongholds" and how does Satan attempt to set them up in our minds?

Week 1 Question 4:
What are our 3 weapons to overcome strongholds?

Week 1 Question 5:
(Zechariah 4:6)
Determination isn't enough to break free from strongholds, what else do you need??

Week 1 Personal Reflection Question (Personal Reflection Questions are not meant for you to share your answer. Your answer is between you and God, but if you feel led to share your answer, please feel free to do so).

In the story of Mary and John, did you see yourself? What patterns in their life do you see in your own?  Spend some time in prayer this week and make a list of the things that are strongholds in your life. What thinking patterns do you have in your life that are NOT of Christ. What thoughts do you battle often that don't line up with the word of God? Hold onto this list so that as we go through the book, you can start breaking down these strongholds!
